Our medical group closed several clinics throughout the year and the providers were absorbed into existing clinics. How do I record their FTE in our provider registration file?
All providers should have an FTE for every clinic in which they provided billable services throughout the year. FTE should be calculated based on the amount of months that the provider worked at each clinic. If a clinic closed, calculate FTE based on the amount of months that the clinic was open.
For example, Dr. Jane Doe worked at Clinic A full time until it closed in June. At that time, Dr. Jane Doe began working full time at Clinic B.
In your provider file, you would record that Dr. Jane Doe worked at Clinic A 0.5 FTE and Clinic B 0.5 FTE. (Rationale: 1.0 FTE X 6/12 months = 0.5 FTE for both clinics)
To assist groups with calculating FTE, MNCM developed an FTE Calculation Tool, which is attached.
